Brazília függetlenségének 100. évfordulója alkalmából 1921-ben pályázatot írtak ki a Riói Corcovado hegy csúcsán felállítandó Megváltó (Cristo Redentor) szobor tervezésére. Apám ifjú, lelkes szobrászként benevezett és már tervezte a braziliai utazást. A Rió szimbólumaként is ismert art deco emlékművet egy brazil mérnök, Heitor da Silva Costa terve nyerte. Apám pályaműve a temetőben áll első párjának sírja felett.

Funny because I live in Rio de Janeiro and we can see the Christ from many places.
We are so used to it that we don't know how to judge it. The other day I was with a friend and asked her if she liked the... I din't have to finish the sentence cause she said with her face "it's there, it's boring and ugly".

You must have a monument at you city that makes you feel the same.
